W.E. E-1 HANDSET RETROFIT The early Western Electric E-1 handset "bullet" transmitter elements are normally found to be very weak or have too much static. I now have some available that I have rebuilt with a W.E. T-1 transmitter element as shown in photo - bottom right corner. It has worked out very well for me and is about the only way to salvage those old type bullet elements. I will provide the zinc threaded housing that I have gutted and modified with a T-1 transmitter element mounted inside. Connection to handset transmitter screw is made by a single wire (orange wire in photo). When you screw on the housing to the handset the T-1 element wire will be the transmiiter connection and the zinc housing body is the other connection, ie - screw "R" in handset which is common to both the transmitter zinc housing and receiver element connection. I am NOT providing an E-1 handset or any of the black bakelite parts, those you must use from your old handset. However, I will provide a transmitter black plastic screen vent cover as shown in photo (homemade). This black vent cover mounts inside the spitcup and covers up the T-1 element as in the latter E-1 handset transmitter units which used the F-1 type element. For other E-1 needed handset parts please inquire.
